We all feel low and worthless from time to time. But here, writer Lauren Crook explains that what the Bible says about us is far more important than what we say about ourselves.
“And [he] hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.” Revelation 5:10 KJV.
You are royalty. This can be easy to forget in both the busy and mundane moments of life but the reality remains the same; because of Jesus, you’re royalty! Not only this but you were designed to reign in every area of life. Let that sink in for a minute.
Did you know that, through the blood of Jesus, you are righteous, holy, chosen, spotless, blameless, royal, and that you have been blessed with every spiritual blessing? If you don’t believe me go and have a read of Romans 5:1, Colossians 1:22, Ephesians 1:3-5 and 1 Peter 2:9. I wouldn’t normally include all these Bible references but I want you to know that I’m not making this up, it’s all in there! Let’s take this one step further and point out that if you are blessed with every spiritual blessing then there are no blessings that you’re without or lacking. Furthermore, 2 Peter 1:3 tells us that His divine power has given you everything you need for life and godliness. Thankfully none of the above is based on anything we can do but on what Jesus has already done.
I bet you’re now wondering why no one told you this earlier. I think we have a tendency to ignore the parts of the Bible that don’t make sense to us. It sure didn’t make sense to me at first. How can I be all of these things when I am experiencing none of them? It’s either true or it isn’t.
The wisdom of Proverbs tells us to be careful how we think because our life is shaped by our thoughts (4:23). Perhaps the reason these verses didn’t make sense to me was because my life was being shaped by my thoughts, you know the ones: “I’ll never be good enough,” “I wish I was like them,” “I get why God doesn’t want to use me.” My thoughts were so powerful that they manifested in my life and became my experience. I then allowed my experience to become my truth, over and above what the bible told me. Don’t ever allow your experience to become more real to you than the truth.
Don’t ever allow your experience to become more real to you than the truth.
Once I became acquainted with these truths I started to look myself in the mirror every day and speak them over myself until they began to seep into my thoughts and manifest in my life. Over time, the truth slowly started to become my experience! A really significant part of this journey was that I chose to declare truth even though I didn’t believe it. I declared it until I believed it and I encourage you to do the same, starting today.
