Can’t keep up with the Kardashian? Writer Lauren Windle gives you the lowdown on Kim K’s relationship with Jesus.
Kim Kardashian is one of the most famous women in the world. I know this because my dad, who can’t tell Jennifer Hudson from Jennifer Aniston, knows who she is. This makes her part of an elite group of megastars that also includes George Clooney and Cher. Still, if you ask him why she’s famous he couldn’t tell you.
For those equally as perplexed as my pop culture illiterate father, here are the key points; Kimberly Noel Kardashian was born on October 21, 1980, in LA. She is the daughter of Kris and third-generation Armenian-American Robert George Kardashian, the lawyer who gained fame after acting as the defence attorney for O. J. Simpson.
Kim was always floating around with celebrities and was close friends with Paris Hilton, but she gained a platform of her own after her ex-boyfriend released an x-rated tape of the two of them without her consent. Following this, her whole family signed up to reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and Kim’s fashion, lifestyle and relationships have kept her in the press ever since. The star has been married three times including most recently to rapper Kanye West. The pair had four children before divorcing in November 2022.
There are many elements of Kim’s story that plenty of people would suggest aren’t consistent with the Christian faith. It is impossible for any of us to know someone’s heart and the state of their personal relationship with Jesus, but it may surprise and delight you to find out that Kim does identify as a follower of Jesus.
“We don’t share it much, but we’re really religious. We start our day with a group chat with a Bible verse from my mom.”
In a 2018 interview with Vogue, the reality TV star spoke about her experiences of attending a Catholic school but specified that she wasn’t a Catholic. She did confirm however that she, and her family are Christians. Kim said: “We don’t share it much, but we’re really religious. We start our day with a group chat with a Bible verse from my mom, and everyone chimes in on the meaning of it. We are very Christian — and our work ethic and our discipline comes from so many years at Catholic school.
In an episode of their hit TV show last year, the camera crew documented Kim as she presented world renowned show Saturday Night Live. Before going on set the star joined hands with her team as her sister Khloe prayed: “Dear Heavenly Father, thank you so much for this day. Thank you for bringing us together. May we always be united and never divided, may we always try to do the right thing and leave people a little better than how we met them. Lord, please give Kimberly all the strength, all the confidence she needs tonight. Please give us all the love and grace and let us be covered in the blood of Jesus.”

In 2020 Kim shared footage of a trip she took to Armenia with her family when they were all baptised in an Orthodox ceremony in Armenia. She posted a few pictures to Instagram along with the caption: “Thank you Armenia for hosting my family and I on such a memorable trip. So blessed to have been baptised along with my babies at Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, Armenia’s main cathedral which is sometimes referred to as the Vatican of the Armenian Apostolic Church. This church was built in 303 AD.”
So, there you have it. One of the world’s most famous women is proud of her relationship with Christ and is taking steps to deepen that connection. We pray that she continues to develop her faith and that many others follow her example and meet with Jesus.
